Social Media Dictionary for sure nowadays is needed. Not trying at all to be a social media guru, but I thought I would put together a list of important terms in English related to social media. Since we all use social media. We all have someone near us not enjoying the internet network enough, maybe your father 😉 is always asking. What does tag means, what is that symbol in my phone? I hope the terms listed below are helpful to you in better understanding and navigating social media. We will try to mention all the significant words, the word which have a underlying meaning.

- AMA. Ask me anything. It’s used by people who are opening themselves up to any kind of question, especially personal questions, anywhere in Internet.
- BIO. a section where organizations, influencers, and individuals share essential information about themselves.
- BLOCK. Blocking someone on social media, you prevent them from seeing your posts on that social network.
- BLOG. Digital publication in which one or more authors regularly post content, generally on a specific topic.
- DIRECT. (DM) is a private message sent through a social platform. By default, DMs from non-followers are blocked or filtered into a secondary inbox.
- CHAT. A chat is an online conversation with one or more people.
- CHECK IN. Is a way of location tagging a social media post to indicate where the user is, or where the content in the post was created.
- COMMENT. A response that is often provided as an answer or reaction to a blog post or message on a social network.
- EMOJI. Set of tiny graphics used in digital channels from text messages to social media.
- FOLLOWERS. People who have liked (or “followed”) your accounts on social media
- GIF. A file format that supports both static and animated images.
- HASHTAG. Word or phrase preceded by the “#” sign. Hashtags are used on social media to tag posts as part of a larger conversation.
- LIKE. To "like" something (on social media): to display a positive reaction to something (on social media). Like a photo a video, a reaction, a status, a person etc.
- MEME. A joke or comment made for sharing on social networks. It usually appears in the form of a graphic or GIF with text above the image or superimposed.
- MENTION. The act of tagging a user in a social media message. Sometimes called @ mentions.
- MUTE. Edit users out of your feed without unfollowing or unfriending them. They still see that you are connected, and you can still interact, but you don’t see any of their activity in your timeline.
- POST. Any social media status update, photo, or video, or an item shared on a blog or forum.
- REPLY. A function that allows you to respond publicly to another user’s comment, creating a comment thread.
- SHARE. Sending photos, videos, product recommendations and website links to friends with social networking accounts. Give it a try share on Instagram our blog.
- SPAM. Unnecessary, unwanted, or repetitive content that clogs inboxes and clutters social media feeds.
- STORY. Form of ephemeral content on Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat that disappears after 24 hours
- STICKER. Feature of stories formats they allow users to add extra information to a post, like a hashtag or location.
- TAG. Keyword added to a social media post to categorize content. You can also tag someone in a post or photo, which creates a link to their social media profile.
- TWEET. A post in Twitter.
- TROLL. Social media user who makes deliberately offensive or annoying postings
- VLOGGING. Combination of the words “video” and “blogging.” It means to create and post video blog content.
- VERIFIED. Proven identity in the social media platform provider and gained a verified label in return, usually in the form of a checkmark.
- WEBINAR. “web” and “seminar.” Digital broadcast of a presentation intended to educate or inform.
